Day 1 In D.C.

Beginnings are important. You bet they are! Today was a great day, but not a warm one. This morning it was 13 degrees outside and it was brutal. I was geared up and what I thought was ready to go, but I was blown away by how cold it was. Anyway, we made our way to the metro and got on the subway. We were headed to Union Square where we were greeted by the special event planners. They were very nice people and we were grateful for their stories. They showed us some of the most beautiful architecture I've ever seen in the Union Square plaza, and told us about the planning for the New England Ball. Afterwords, we grabbed some lunch downstairs at Union Square, and beat it down to the Capitol. We had a cool tour at the Capitol. Our guide talked about some interesting things about the Capitol and she also told us about U.S. history. Did you know that there is a spot in the original senate chamber where you can hear everything in the room even when you whisper. Once we finished there we were off to one of the most famous, delicious, and extravagant food joints in town... Ben's Chilly Bowl. It was great! We had chili dogs, chili fries, chili burgers, and plain old chili. Anything that had to do with chili, they had it. Though, we came back to the church with peaceful minds, cold faces, and bellies full of chili., and we came back with smiles, stories, and anticipation for tomorrow.
